Association Una Ciudad began its work in Spain in 20** The idea for the association started with a small group of expat friends who came from multiple countries. The founding group came from different professional backgrounds: education, linguistics, medicine?, finance?, and tech. Despite not sharing a common homeland, culture, or profession, they held one thing in common: the desire to use their skills and experience to help other expats find services and resources that would enable them to thrive in their new country, Spain.
As the board of directors began researching needs in their city, it became clear that one of the most under-served communities was the North African and Middle Eastern one. Both national and international neighbors shared about deeply-felt needs among the NAME community in Spain: access to education, healthcare, social services, employment, and camaraderie. As expats themselves, the founding members were aware of the cultural and linguistic challenges that arise when relocating internationally.
Sobre Nosotros

Nuestra historia

The idea for the name “Una Ciudad” came from the concepts of unity, belonging, and hope. Members of the association came from different cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Yet, they had joined together in one city. Similarly, the people who they sought to assist were far from home, far from family, far from anything that felt familiar. This new city had brought all of them together and given them hope for better opportunities on the horizon. Thus, the prospect of finding belonging and comfort in a new, multicultural place, far from one’s homeland, produced Association Una Ciudad.
